spring semester is almost over….now what

If you’re like many students here at NC State, you’re probably finding yourself wondering what to expect with the rest of the few shorts weeks left in this semester. Spring break has come and gone…classes are getting more difficult as you seen the semester wrapping up…and your schedule seems to be filled with projects, papers, and tests. BUT…if you ever need a break from the hustle and bustle of campus life, well then you’re in luck. CCF specializes in provided a place not just for worshiping our One True Father, but for creating that perfect place to get away from your dorm room and to study (ie, play video games and watch Netflix).

SOOO…if you haven’t ever given CCF a chance, well now you know you’re invited!! (Even if its just for the TV)

Spring Semester 2012…

…2012 is here …and for this spring semester, there’s a lot going on with Campus Christian Fellowship. For starters, Crash – our worship night – happens every week on Tuesday nights at 7:30pm in our ministry center. Crash is filled with fellowship, worship, and biblical teaching followed by us going over to The Atrium on campus for food afterwards. We’re kicking off our first Crash for the semester on January 10th. So come join us and get connected with some people at NC State who are both friendly and serious about God.

Fall Semester…

If you’re looking for a campus ministry to get connected with, then you should check out the Campus Christian Fellowship. We are campus ministry that enjoys spending time with each other for worship nights, midweek bible studies, intramurals, movie nights, NCSU football and basketball games, late night dinners, outreach events, and just about anything else that college life can offer.

Our main worship nights (called “Crash”) are on Tuesday at 7:30pm. This is basically a time for fellowship, worship, prayer, and teaching. We are located at 2526 Hillsboro Street, suite #202 — which is next to a tattoo shop and is directly across the street from the campus library on Hillsboro Street.

You can also get involved in small group bible studies that meet both on and off campus. Currently, there are two that meet on campus and one that meets off campus. If you want more information about these groups, email the CCF (steven@ccf-ncsu.org) and we’ll get the info to you.

There are lots of other ways to get connected with CCF…if you want to learn more, stop by some time to hear about what all we do as a ministry.

Summer Time

The summer usually means that no one is around campus, right? Nope…at least not with the CCF group.

Granted, the new guy (lead minister) isn’t on site just yet, but that doesn’t mean the students aren’t enjoying Tuesday evenings together.

There are some pretty cool events coming up in July…like a cookout, continued bible studies, social outings (sports, movies, coffee, etc), and getting the 202 ministry center ready for the fall semester. We have a bike ministry that we’re working hard on. The CCF students have taken much initiative to have a nice collection of bikes to rent to students who need transportation around campus. This is a great way to reach out to the community of NC State students!

So, whether you’re on campus during the summer because your visiting campus or because of summer classes, know that you’re invited to swing by the 202.

Hey Everyone,

Wow. Last week of classes is here. Can you believe it? Summer is right around the corner!

CCF has closed up shop yet, in fact we have some BIG things happening this week:

Graduation Celebration/ End Of Year Cookout
Tuesday night – 6:30pm
Meeting at Capital City Christian Church, basically across the street from Cookout on Western. Here is a map.
We asked several times for you to RSVP so we have enough food, hopefully you did. If not, well…

A Night of Service :: Hillsborough Hike
A lot of your fellow classmates will be participating in the semi annual Hillsborough Hike this Friday night. In case you have never heard of it, the idea is to start at the bell tower and “hike” to other end of Hillsborough St – grabbing a beer at every bar in between.
CCF will be there to serve. We are planning to setup tables along the street and offer bread and water to anyone who wants it.
We will meet up at the202 at 9pm to cut up the bread and then hit the streets!

Guys & Girls Retreat :: The Details

Hey Everyone.

Here is the need to know info for the retreats happening this weekend. It’s not too late to sign up! Please turn in your $$ has soon as possible!!

Girls Retreat

Cost: $10.

For those of you who need a RIDE or want to carpool please meet at the Wachovia lot beside the 202 at 4pm. Mandi will be there and can give you a ride. For those of you who just want to drive on your own you may arrive at 4:30.

Just post on the wall if you need more directions than just the address.

Please PARK in a Guest spot or the spots with no numbers in front of the pool.

What to bring:

snacks (chocolate, cookies, chips…yumm)

Guys Retreat

Cost: $15.

Based on the schedules of everyone who has signed up so far, we will be able to leave Raleigh at 3pm. We are meeting at Capitol City Christian Church and will leave from there.

NYC Spring Break :: Day 5

Today we were tourists. It felt weird.

We started off with a tour of Good America studios, which was really intense due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Thanks to much to Martha R. for making the tour happen!

Next we walked through central park, rode the staton island ferry, shopped in times square, shopped in china town and found some great food to eat in between.

In short, I am exhausted. Tomorrow we make the drive back to North Carolina, your prayers are greatly appreciated!

NYC Spring Break :: Day 4

Today was a day of contrast.

We began at Trinity Lutheran church in Manhattan. They serve lunch everyday and have a food pantry that is open Monday through Thursday. Everyone left with the same conclusion – we enjoyed this neighborhood based ministry more than the city wide ministry. We noticed that the church volunteers had built relationships with the people the served and were not just a “number to be served.” Great experience! They kept asking us to return tomorrow!

To contrast that, we spent the afternoon in the NYC storehouse for World Vision – a global ministry. Their warehouse is in the Bronx and does some localized ministry there, including a teacher supply center that could rival any Office Depot. Some of our students had the chance to deliver much needed supplies to a family that just had their home burn down the night before. We saw shelves, upon shelves, of donated food, books, clothing, building materials, home furnishings, and everything in between. It was a great experience to see what happens behind the scenes at such a huge ministry!

Tomorrow is our free day – we will be tourists. Kind of sad.

NYC Spring Break :: Day 3

This morning we started off in St John’s Bread & Life food bank. Wow – I’m so impressed with their building, staff, system, and efficiency! They are the first DIGITAL food bank in the United States. The way it works is their families/clients order their food from a kiosk in the lobby, then a ticket prints out in the pantry, a few minutes later someone brings out their order. “Normal” food banks have pre-prepared boxes that families take – whether they want all of the food or not. St John’s claims that they are reducing food waste – what a great idea! You can learn more about the food bank here – http://www.breadandlife.org/

This afternoon the students are on their own for an experience called “neighborhood immersion.” We drop them of in a neighborhood inside the city, give them each $2, take away their cell phone, money, and subway maps – then tell them to feed themselves PLUS one other person and find their way back to the housing site. I can’t wait for the stories.
